The eminent Slovenian physician Primarius Marko Zupančič, MD, PhD is one of the most renowned urologists in the Western Balkans and beyond. Throughout his 35 years of expert experience in urology, he has performed more than 12.500 different procedures, nearly four thousand of which employed the laparoscopic technique. In fact, it is precisely the development of laparoscopic procedures in urology that has been Dr. Zupančič’s main interest in the last three decades. He is always ready to not just pursue the development and the practical performance of these procedures, but also to share his knowledge and expertise with colleagues and residents on training throughout the Balkan region. He devoted most of his professional and scientific research to prostate cancer. Since 1999, he has performed just under three thousand laparoscopic radical prostatectomies.
In addition to professional challenges, Dr. Zupančič has strived to create a work environment that nurtures good interpersonal relationships, both within the staff and especially with the patients.
